Chalet Iris

Over the 3 valley skiing area, an eagle spreads its wings in the rising air current, and glides on the roof of Europe, at an altitude where frozen silence reigns. It flies around the majestic peaks of the Alps, and flies down to a mountain village, Méribel, a former shelter for shepherds that, despite its reputation as a winter sports resort, carefully preserved its pastoral charm. The bird flies over the little streets where the houses are clustered together, then sets off again towards the sky. Its contour slowly dissolves into the vast blue sky.

Near the Raffort hamlet, a piste of the same name leads to a traditional chalet, on a mountain slope where the stretches of snow surround the evergreen forests, and where, in every direction, the rugged relief cuts out erratic shapes in the sky. At the south, Saulire peak and mount Vallon overhang the Méribel valley, a stunning scene that can be contemplated from the large adjoining terrace.

Behind the wooden walls and the old stones, a fireplace spreads a soft warmth and a resin scent that, in the living room, blends with the pine tree smell emanating from the floor, the ceiling and the authentic furniture. A timeless atmosphere wraps the visitors, and no one could suspect that nearby, a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a home theater add modern comfort to the chalet.

The bedding quality matches that comfort, and the sunrise over the surrounding valleys can be admired from the bedroom glass doors, as the first sun rays graze the top of the trees and turns the snow accumulated during the night into fine droplets.

In a few hours, the resorts will open, but there is still time to enjoy the moment and admire the sight of nature slowly awakening, in this place where, as Nicolas Houde used to say, “the dawn is like an infinitely tender gaze.”
